Summary: | We are monitoring the nesting activity of Lesser Snow Geese. We find nests through systematic searches of fixed plots at 5 sites throughout the goose colony during the incubation period to evaluate the nesting density. All nests found are positioned with a GPS. We determine the clutch size and the float status of 1 egg from each of at least 20 nests at each site in order to determine the dates of nest initiation and projected hatch. We assess reproductive success from juvenile to adult ratios estimated during banding and aerial photographic surveys. |
