Description
Summary:During the annual Palmer LTER cruises in the austral summer of 2012 - 2016, seawater O2/Ar ratios were measured underway from the ship's flow-through seawater system. High-resolution net community production (NCP) in units of mmol O2 m-2 day-1 was derived from delta O2/Ar and National Centers for Environmental Prediction reanalysis winds. This two-minute resolution, quality-checked NCP product was calculated from a dataset containing raw O2 and Ar gas ratios in seawater recorded during the cruise using an equilibrator inlet mass spectrometer (EIMS) (Cassar et al., 2009). The EIMS was connected to the ship’s underway water supply and measured O2 and Ar gas ratios. Data were collected continuously whilst the underway water supply was running. Data were saved continuously onto a desktop computer as well as the expedition data storage, and backed-up every 24 hours onto a USB hard drive. US National Science Foundation Grant: OPP-1643534
