| Summary: | The term "global warming" refers to a slow increase in atmospheric temperature and the resulting modification of the global radiation balance, which are mostly caused by anthropogenic processes that result in local, regional, and worldwide climate change. According to recent estimations, the surface air temperature has risen by 0.5 to 0.7°C over the past 100 years. The amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is rising at a pace of 0.4%, or 3.2 billion tonnes, per year. The Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change (IPCC) comes to the conclusion that human activity, such as burning fossil fuels and deforestation, is to blame for the majority of the concentration of greenhouse gases. The IPCC also comes to the conclusion that most of the warming between pre-industrial periods and 1950 was caused by variation eruption. The proliferation of sub-tropical deserts is one of the effects of rising sea levels and altered precipitation amounts and patterns brought on by an increase in the global temperature. With warming being strongest in the Arctic, it is projected that glaciers, permafrost, and sea ice will continue to recede. Other expected effects include increases in the intensity of extreme weather events, species extinctions, and changes in agricultural production. |
