Description
Summary:Andrena ( Ptilandrena ) cf. campanulae Viereck and Cockerell, 1914 Counties: Becker, Mahnomen, Pennington Comments: Andrena campanulae was synonymized under A. geranii by LaBerge (1977). However, specimens matching A. campanulae are distinct based on morphology and barcode data (Gibbs et al. 2023, ZP and MA, unpublished), so we are treating it as a separate species, though we have not been able to examine any males or compare to the holotype. Females of A . cf. campanulae are similar to A. geranii , but they have the clypeus more regularly punctured, the abdomen is black rather than slightly metallic blue, and there is a weak posterior fringe on the propodeal corbicula (Figure 5). This species was previously reported from Minnesota as “ Andrena ( Euandrena ) n. sp. aff. geranii ” in Lane et al. (2022).
