Description
Summary:A 0.5 nautical miles resolution model is run for the Faroe area for eight of the most important constituents in the area. Several runs are performed for some of the constituents, and based on comparison with tidal harmonics derived from measurements the results from particular runs are selected to b e included in the tidal database and presentation. Tidal harmonics based on measurements by tidal gauges and current meters are collected from various available sources and included in the present report. The major part of the current meter data are from a recently compiled report. Tidal current harmonics based on current profile measurements are adopted from a recent study. The model results are validated towards measurement based data. The simulated semi diurnal tide is found to be in excellent agreement with measurements, while the simulation of the diurnal tide is slightly less successfull, although the variance between model and measurement derived parameters is comparable with the variance between different current time series at the same site or differences between analysis results from different sources at the same site for the elevation.
