Summary:The article describes the issue of prospects for oil and gas potential of the southeastern part of the Sakhalin shelf in general and the identification of oil and gas generation centers in particular. Taking into account the peculiarities of the distribution of reservoirs over the area, their heterogeneity, formation of hydrocarbons (HC) accumulations is possible within small distance from the generation sources. Thus, the identification of potential sources can significantly reduce the area of geological exploration and, as a result, increase their geological and economic efficiency.
