Description
Summary:This report presents an overview of the work done as part of UNDER-ICE, work package 2, during 2014 and 2015. The tomographic system of the UNDER-ICE project was deployed in September 2014, and the recovery is planned for summer 2016. The bulk of the new data generated during UNDER-ICE will be available only after successful recovery of the moored system in 2016. The activities in WP2 are therefore based mainly on data available from earlier work, i.e. prior to 2014. The research cruise in 2014 is briefly presented. Preliminary results mainly based on legacy data are also shown, divided into two main themes, each of which represents a planned scientific publication. The first topic is a case study of a crossing of the Arctic Front with ship and glider in September 2011. The second is a study of mesoscale activity in the Fram Strait using the repeat sections from all glider deployments. Finally, an outlook describes the next steps, in particular publications that are planned or in preparation, and some recommendations for future work are provided, relating to issues covered in this report.
