Description
Summary:The article studies changes in the settlement of related local groups of yukagirs and Evens living in the Yakut-Magadan border area. Based on published sources, archival and field materials, the development of the traditional economy of the Verkhnekolymsky and Srednekolymsky regions of yakutia and the srednekansky region of Magadan is considered. The influence of the industrial development of Kolyma on the traditional system of settlement and management is analyzed. It has been established that reindeer breeding has been preserved only among the Berezovsky Evens, the complete disappearance of employment in traditional sectors of the economy is observed among the yukaghirs living in the Seimchan settlement. Hunting and fishing are retained by all local groups in view of the fact that lands are allocated for these industries - hunting grounds and fishing grounds.
