DISTRIBUTION: New Guinea; Salawati Isl and Aru Isis (Indonesia). STATUS: Rare. SYNONYMS: bruijni, pilicauda, senex, thorbeckiana, wallacei, wavicus. COMMENTS: This species was further described by Müller and Schlegel, in Temminck, Verh. Nat. Gesch. Nederland. Overz. Bezitt., Zool., Mammalia, p. 149[1845], pl. 25 J 1843J.
