R.); Heilungkiang, N. Sinkiang (China) (SW); Altai, N. Tien Shan; N. Ukraine, and Lithuania; isolated populations in the Alps, Scotland, and Ireland. COMMENT: Includes othus and arcticus; see Corbet, 1978:73. Corbet and Hill, 1980:197, listed arcticus as a distinct species; Hall, 1981:318, listed both as distinct species.
