TYPE LOCALITY: "an der östlichen Küste von Südamerika; wir karpunirten ihn in der Gegend des Rio de la Plata." (= South Atlantic Ocean near Rio de la Plata, off coast of Argentina and Uruguay). DISTRIBUTION: Worldwide: cold-temperate to tropical waters. STATUS: CITES - Appendix II. SYNONYMS: asthenops, crotaphiscus, euphrosyne, styx, tethyos. COMMENTS: See Mitchell (1970:720). Perrin et al.
