Diagnosis Colonies with branching lobes, colour varying from pale to dark orange, with white polyps. Collaret and points colourless and composed of warty spindles and some irregular and branched forms, clubs rare and small. Tentacles contain irregular, warty, scale-like sclerites. Polyp neck contains spiny spindles and warty rod-like sclerites. Polyp mounds contain slender, spiny clubs and warty rod- and spindle-like sclerites. Lobe and base surface contains radiates, clubs, and occasionally leafy spheroids. Lobe and base interior contains slender spindles and radiates. Etymology The species name is the feminine form of aurantiacum, the original species epithet (Quoy & Gaimard 1833).
