Description
Summary:Philine malaquiasi Valdés, Cadien et Gosliner, 2016 is recorded from the Chukchi and Bering seas and from the southeastern coast of the Kamchatka Peninsula. This is the first record of the species for the Russian fauna. This species was initially considered as a member of the genus Philine Ascanius, 1772 (family Philinidae). In the present article, we transfer it to the genus Retusophiline Nordsieck, 1972 (family Laonidae) under the name Retusophiline malaquiasi (Valdés, Cadien et Gosliner, 2016), comb. nov., based on the morphology of the headshield, gizzard and copulatory system.
