Description
Summary:Global warming influences the human and environment in various ways, such as sea-level rise, shrinking of glaciers, change in precipitation, ocean acidification, increasing the frequency and intensity of devastating climatic conditions. The enhanced immensity of floods and droughts, reduction in precipitation in subtropics and the insufficiency of potable water sources are few possible impacts of increasing global average temperature, which is an ominous sign for the food and water security. Moreover, global warming affects the human population directly by increasing the chance of vector-borne diseases, water-borne diseases and pollution related illnesses. In 2015, Paris agreement was introduced with the main objective of limiting global temperature increase to 2$^{\circ}$ by 2100 and pursuing efforts to limit the increase to 1.5$^{\circ}$. The emission of greenhouse gases, particularly carbon dioxide for climate change is the focus of increasing international concern. Two main strategies for maintaining the atmospheric level of carbon dioxide are: to control the anthropogenic emission of carbon dioxide or to capture carbon dioxide directly from the air. For controlling the anthropogenic emission of carbon dioxide either we can cut off the fossil fuel usage or apply different policies, such as CCS technology, deployment of renewable energy sources, etc. Furthermore, to sequestrate the carbon dioxide directly from the air, we can adopt afforestation/reforestation, BECCS, ocean fertilization, etc. strategies. In this article, we discuss the main strategies for climate change abatement to maintain the atmospheric level of carbon dioxide. Further, we have discussed about some mathematical modeling ideas for the mitigation of anthropogenic emission of carbon dioxide. A.K.
