Long-nosed Mole Euroscaptor longurostris French: Taupe a long nez / German: Langnasenmaulwurf / Spanish: Topo de hocico largo Taxonomy. 7 Talpa longirostris Milne-Edwards, 1870, Moupin (= Baoxing), Sichuan, China. Based on specimens from Vietnam, two new species, E. kuznetsovi and E. orlovi, were separated from E. longirostris, but taxonomic status of Chinese specimens has not yet been reevaluated. Monotypic. Distribution. C & S China (Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing, Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Guangxi,Jiangxi, and Fujian). Descriptive notes. Head—body 90-145 mm, tail 11-25 mm, hindfoot 14-23 mm. Body of the Long-nosed Mole is dark gray to black, sometimes with slight brownish tinge. Tail is sparsely haired, except toward tip where it is covered with white hairs. Rostrum is long and narrow.
