Summary:Genus Strongylognathus Mayr, 1853 Strongylognathus Mayr, 1853:389. Type-species: Eciton testaceum Schenck, 1852. Worker and queen. Mandibles falcate, tapering to apex, edentate or occasionally with a minute denticle before apex. Palp formula -4:3, antennae 12 segmented. Propodeum with a pair of very small denticles. Male. Mandibles as worker but smaller; antennae 10 segmented with elongated second funicular segment as in Tetramorium. This is a palaearctic genus with several species each dependant on one or other Tetramorium species. One species only occurs in North Europe. Published as part of Collingwood, C.
