Hemispherical to globular sponge, 6.5 x 4 x 4 cm (length x width x height), with ectosomal layer easily detachable from the underlying choanosome. Surface microscopically smooth, crowded with conical volcano­shaped oscules, 1 x 0.2 mm wide and high, and numerous flattened mammiform areolate porefields 1 x 0.2 mm wide and high. Texture firm, resilient, slightly fleshy. External colour in life mottled chocolate brown, interior dark chocolate brown, in preservative dark chocolate brown. Spicules.
