Description
Summary:Genus Sensiava gen. nov. Description. Male. Cephalosome and first pedigerous somite and pedigerous somites 4–5 incompletely separated. Rostrum with 2 long filaments. Antennules asymmetrical, right one 23-segmented and geniculate, left 24-segmented. Mouthparts well developed. Praecoxal endite of maxilla with 5 setae; endopod with 8 sensory setae (3 worm-like, 5 brush-like). Praecoxal lobes of maxilliped syncoxa with 1 sclerotized seta on proximal lobe, 2 sclerotized setae on medial lobe and 3 setae (2 sclerotized, 1 poorly sclerotized) on distal lobe, setal formula 1,2,3. Terminal endopodal segment of maxilliped with 4 setae (2 thick and long, about 1.6 times longer than basis). Swimming legs typical of Clausocalanoidea, with P1 endopod 1-segmented, P2 endopod 2-segmented, and P3–P4 endopods 3-segmented. P1–P4 exopods 3-segmented. P1 exopod segment 3 with 3 medial setae, P2–P4 exopod segment 3 with 4 medial setae. P2–P4 endopods with posterior surface spinulated. P2–P3 basis and first and second exopod segments with distal rows of spinules. P4 basis, endopods and exopods spinulated. P5 left biramous, exopod 2- segmented, shorter than 1-segmented endopod. Right P5 uniramous, exopod 3-segmented. Female unknown. Etymology. From sensus (Latin, meaning sense) and avus (Latin, meaning ancestor) referring to Bradfordian copepod families, a group of Clausocalanoidea families possessing sensory setae on maxilla and maxilliped. Gender feminine. Type species Sensiava longiseta gen. nov. , sp. nov. , by monotypy.
