Collected from off Rio de Janeiro, at depths from 617 to 776 m. Coelorinchus marinii was described from off the province of Buenos Aires, Argentina (38 ° 52 ’ S, 56 ° 20 ’ W) and is known from southern Brazil to Antarctica (Cohen et al. 1990; Iwamoto 1990; Cousseau 1993; Menezes & Figueiredo 2003 a).
