Type locality: Takuhara, Shinano, Honshu (Japan). Limnobia avis flavoabdominalis Alexander, 1918: 445. Type locality: not given (Honshu, Japan). Diagnosis. Femora yellow with tip brown. Wing brightly yellowish hyaline, with brown pattern along cord and at origin of Rs; cell dm small. Outer gonostylus short and broad, arched at 2 / 3 length, outer third narrowing into slender spine, with cornute process at dorsal center. Inner gonostylus fleshy with long hairs. Paramere with stem almost straight, inner margin curved into small spine at tip, tip with some short hairs. Description. Male. Body length 11.0– 14.1 mm, wing 13.0–16.0 mm. Head. Brownish yellow except median area yellowish brown and rostrum brown. One small median tubercle between eyes. Hairs on head brown. Antenna 2.2–2.7 mm. Scape and pedicel pale yellow, flagellomeres brownish black, suboval to subcylindrical, apical segments elongate, verticils considerably longer than segments. Proboscis and palpus brown with brown hairs. Thorax. General yellow. Pronotum yellow except dorsal surface brown. Prescutum yellow with two brown stripes. Median region of scutum yellow, lobes brown. Scutellum and mediotergite yellow. Pleura yellow. Hairs on thorax yellow. Coxae yellow; trochanters yellow with inner tip black; femora yellow with tip brown; tibiae yellow; tarsi yellow with tip darker. Hairs on legs brown. Wing (Fig. 1) brightly yellowish hyaline, with brown pattern along cord and at origin of Rs. Sc 2 longer than Sc 1, cell dm small, m-cu shortly before fork of M. Halter 1.8–2.3 mm long, yellow except apex of knob brownish yellow. Abdomen. Tergites 1–3 yellow, tergites 4–9 brownish yellow. Sternites 1–4 yellow, sternites 5–9 yellowish brown ...
