The male imagines have 9 –18, 25 (5) sensilla chaetica on ta 1 of p 2 at 0.1–0.7; no sensilla chaetica on ta 1 of p 3. Distribution and ecology. The species was previously known from Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, Ontario and Michigan (Townes 1945: 146, Oliver et al. 1990: 47) where it is a burrower in the stems of several species of Potamogeton (Townes 1945: 146).
