Summary:Genus Porphyrocrinus Gislén, 1925 Type species of the genus: Porphyrocrinus verrucosus Gislén, 1925 Synonymy: Porphyrocrinus Gislén, 1925: 91 –92;? Monachocrinus pars Gislén, 1933: 483–485; Porphyrocrinus A.M. Clark, 1973: 281 –282; 1982: 123; Rasmussen, 1978: T 847; Roux et al., 2002: 815, 818, 824; Messing, 2007: 106–107; Hess, 2011 a: T 157. Remarks. The species of the genus Porphyrocrinus have 5 arms or more with the first pinnule (or first branching) on Br 8 or beyond and a basal ring with 5 conspicuous sutures. The xenomorphic stalk has proximal columnals with pentamerous symmetry and the same type of synarthry in the mesistele and dististele with a fulcral ridge of two separated segments always along the greater facet diameter.
