Material. 1 specimen from station 039- 16 (SMF 11772), 2151.3 m, 64 ° 28.79 ' S, 2 ° 52.74 ' E, 0 4.01. 2008. Description. Discoidal sponge, encrusting on stone. About 8 mm in diameter, 3 mm thick. Skeleton formed by tracts of tylostyles about 1600 µm long, radially arranged, running from the basis towards the surface. Cortex a palisade of small tylostyles, about 640 µm in length. A marginal fringe made up of additional tylostyles (2500– 5600 µm). Description and Remarks. The species R. antarctica was described by Plotkin and Janussen (2008) from material of the ANDEEP II and III expeditions in the Weddell Sea. The new specimen shows similar characteristics.
