NEW RECORDS : BM12, BM13, BM18, BM19, BM20, BM21, BM25, BM28, BM33, BM34, BM36, BM38, BM40, BM42, BM43, BM47, BM48, BM49, BM51, BM52, BM53, BM54, BM78, BM91, BM92, BM98, BM99. REMARKS : It is probable that Adriatic reports of Laonice cirrata actually refer to L. bahusiensis Söderström, 1920 (A. Sikorski, pers. comm. ). According to Sikorski (2003), L. bahusiensis is distributed in the NE Atlantic including the Mediterranean Sea, while L. cirrata is not present in the Mediterranan being distributed in the circumpolar area (all the Arctic Ocean) and several areas in the Atlantic and in the Pacific Ocean. Laonice bahusiensis is extremely close to L. cirrata morphologically (the species with which was often confused and synonymized), but differs from it in several distinguishing characters (Sikorski 2003), which, unfortunately, were not observed in the new material reported in this list. Detailed analysis of that material is currently in progress, by A. Sikorski, and until results are obtained, it is preferred to retain records of Laonice in the Adriatic Sea as L. cirrata .
