Diagnosis. Antenna very long, reaching second chaetiger and further. Secondary ciliary organs present. Three prebranchial segments. Dorsal podial lobes of chaetigers 1 and 2 clearly shorter than those of chaetiger 3. Branchiae numbering up to 29 pairs; flat and abruptly tapering to a filiform tip. Modified notochaetae absent. Modified neurochaetae gradually tapering, terminal spine as continuation of tip; ventral-most ones clearly thicker and more strongly curved than the rest Distribution. Western Atlantic from Maine (Webster & Benedict 1887) to Gulf of Mexico (Gaston 1984), and from Argentina to Uruguay (Strelzov 1973). Eastern Atlantic, from Norway (Rygg 2002) to Bay of Biscay (Campoy 1981). Arctic, from the Jan Mayen (Bakken et al. 2010) to the Chukchi Sea (Strelzov 1973). Mediterranean (Katzmann & Laubier 1975). Subantarctic (Strelzov 1973).
