Diagnosis. Antenna long, multiarticulate. Secondary ciliary organs present. Three prebranchial segments. Branchiae numbering 7–18 pairs; with wide base and rounded tip. Modified notochaetae absent. Modified neurochaetae hooked with subterminal spine on concave side of stem. Distribution. Western Atlantic, from Newfoundland (Kenchington et al . 2001) to Venezuela (Díaz-Díaz & Liñero 2011), and Eastern Atlantic, from the North Sea near Norway (Hartley 1981) to Portugal (Gil & Sardà 1999). Mediterranean (Katzmann & Laubier 1975). Pacific Ocean: Japan (Imajima 1973), California (Blake 1996), Panama (Aguado & López 2003).
