Description
Summary:This deliverable supplies a demonstration of the unicellular component (essentially phytoplankton, bacteria and micro zooplankton) of a generalized trait-based plankton model, and is a direct output from Task 3.1 Generalized trait-based model of plankton. It outlines and documents the scientific basis of the model and provides a list of parameters and algorithms. The deliverable includes sample output from the model. The model is validated through comparison with observations on a global scale, as well as through sensitivity analysis of parameter values. Finally, the deliverable outlines steps towards integration, in a trait-based model of the pelagic environment that explicitly simulates both the unicellular and multicellular (metazoan and fish) components.
