Description
Summary:This repository contains an interactive key that can be used to identify Haploniscidae that are found around Iceland. The key can be used to differentiate between Antennuloniscus Menzies, 1962, Chauliodoniscus Lincoln, 1985 and Haploniscus Richardson, 1908, and contains digitized illustrations with habitus and distinguishing characters. The key is viewable within the software IntKey, which is distributed (following the conditions of use) along with this repository. The interactive key was produced by comparing genera descriptions (Brökeland, 2005; Brökeland and Wägele, 2004; Lincoln, 1985; Menzies, 1962; Richardson, 1908), and digitally illustrating based off previous drawings. The interactive key was produced with Delta (Dallwitz, 1995; Dallwitz et al., 2000; Dallwitz, 1974, 1980; Dallwitz et al., 1993) and IntKey (Dallwitz, 1995; Dallwitz et al., 2000; Dallwitz, 1974, 1980; Dallwitz et al., 1993), and allows for easy identification based off distinguishing characters. Data Format This repository contains one file and one folder: start.bat – a batch file which loads the interactive key into the IntKey viewing software, and opens the software to view the key. int – a folder containing the illustrations, distinguishing characters and habitus required for the key, and the necessary files to run the IntKey software. Please note that this software requires Windows 2000 or later; unfortunately, it is not possible to run on other operating systems. How to Use To view and use the interactive key from the downloaded repository, run the start.bat file, and IntKey will promptly open. To identify based on distinguishing characters, select the item on the list below “Best Characters” within the upper left section of the program window. A pop-up will appear, providing drawings that can be selected to eliminate taxa and enable identification. For an overview of specific genera, these can be selected from the upper right section of the main window. For more detailed descriptions on how to use the program, please see ...
