Circumglobal; western Pacific Ocean north to Japan (Aizawa in Nakabo 2002) and southern Kuril Islands (Savinykh 1998); San Pedro, southern California (Miller and Lea 1972) to Chile (Allen and Robertson 1994), including Gulf of California (Robertson and Allen 2015), and Islas Galápagos (Grove and Lavenberg 1997).
