Circumpolar; northern Scandinavia, White Sea to Spitsbergen, Iceland, southern Greenland to Cape Cod, Massachusetts; Arctic Canada to Beaufort Sea, Alaska to Sea of Okhotsk and Tatar Strait, Sea of Japan to Puget Sound, Washington (Mecklenburg et al. 2002, Mecklenburg and Sheiko 2004).
