This form was originally described from the southern part of Sakhalin Island as a type species of the new genus Sakhalineuma (Golovatch 1976), later transferred to Diplomaragna with synonymization of first genus as junior synonym of Diplomaragna (Shear 1990) and then to the revalidated genus Sakhalineuma (Mikhaljova 2000). The original diagnosis of this species has been rectified after a study of topotypes (Mikhaljova 1996).
