Sea Lion Gulch State Marine Reserve, northern California (Lauermann et al. 2017) to southern Baja California (Merit McCrea, pers. comm. to M.L.). Tentatively identified from photographs taken at Rocas Alijos (about 25°N, 115°45’W) (Robert Lea, pers. comm. to M.L.). Benthic; depth: 15–274 m (50–900 ft) (min.: Butler et al. 2012; max.: Miller and Lea 1972).
