Korean Peninsula and Japan to Chukchi Peninsula, Arctic Alaska, and Mackenzie River, Canada to northern Washington (Mecklenburg et al. 2002). However, Reist in Coad and Reist (2018) notes that, in marine waters, the species might also occur as far eastward as the Coronation Gulf, Nunavut. Migrates between freshwaters of Alaska and Siberia (DeCicco 1992). Anadromous and landlocked, lacustrine populations in Alaska.
