Depth: surface (night light, Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California), 91 to perhaps 1,095 m (300–3,593 ft) (min.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California; max.: Personal communication: Scripps Institution of Oceanography Fish Collection, La Jolla, California). Adults usually at depths of 200–300 m (Kobyliansky 1985).
