Summary: | Climate change is a planetary concern that includes a range of extreme weather events and is linked to serious developments in the future. Is local government aware of these threats? What policies could politicians adopt at the local and/or regional level against Climate Change? This is the main question we are invited to answer. The failure to link the global view of a problem to local factors is beginning to be recognized, and significant research efforts are now underway to link the global to local level (Sami, 2018). We explore how Chinese provinces and municipalities work with the central government to implement climate policy. This paper considers China’s potential role in Climate governance, the foundations and nature of China’s climate change policies and envisions the possibility of a new leader emerging in Eurasia policy making (Stavins, 2020) |
