Lice of Saemundssonia identified to the generic level only were reported from Chlidonias leucopterus (Temminck), Gallinago media (Latham), Lymnocryptes minimus (Brünnich), Puffinus yelkouan (Acerbi) and Sterna caspia Pallas * (see Balát, 1958; Touleshkov, 1960a, 1964a, 1964b).
