Summary:Franklinia Jones & Noble, 2006 Franklinia Jones & Noble, 2006: 308. TYPE SPECIES. — Franklinia tricae Jones & Noble, 2006 (Jones & Noble 2006: 310, pl. 5, fig. 2-7, pl. 7, fig. 5, 6, 8). AGE AND LOCATION OF TYPE MATERIAL. — Sheinwoodian, uppermost Lower Silurian, Cape Phillips Formation, Nunavut, Artic Canada. TAXON CODE. — 268. STATUS. — Homonym. DIAGNOSIS. — “Hollow, thin shell base overlain by loose labyrinthine layer. Six or more thin rod-shaped primary spines per hemisphere are rooted on surface of shell base but do not penetrate. Very short secondary spines may be present.” (Jones & Noble 2006: 308). REMARKS This species is a junior homonym of the bird Franklinia Blyth, 1863. See Maletzella nomen novum Noble, 2014.
