Summary:Echiodon cryomargarites Markle, Williams & Olney 1983 (Fig. 3A) Material examined. MOVI 38790 (1, 370 mm SL), E-0529. Diagnosis. Dorsal fin origin distinctly behind anal fin origin; pectoral fin-rays 19–21; precaudal vertebrae 25–29. Distribution. Western South Atlantic and South Pacific. In the western Atlantic, it is known from Espírito Santo, Brazil (present study) to Tierra del Fuego and South Georgia Island (Markle & Olney 1990), at depths from 400 to 1441 m. Remarks. The 370-mm specimen represents the northernmost (19°49'S) and deepest (1441 m) record of the species. Previously reported off southern Brazil by Marke & Olney (1990) and Bernardes et al . (2005).
