Range: This species has a limited range in the East Sea (Fig. 82). The South Korean Coast Guard chronicled the only record of this species as a by-catch at Pohang (central east coast) in 2003 (Pohang Coast Guard, unpublished data). Remarks: Kogia breviceps is considered monotypic, but geographic variation within the species has not been assessed (Chivers et al . 2005).
