Summary:This repository contains simulations from the Community Atmosphere Model version 6 (CAM6) used in the manuscript “Influences of Recent Particle Formation on Southern Ocean Aerosol Variability and Low Cloud Properties” in the Journal of Geophysical Research: Atmospheres . CAM6 simulations are nudged with reanalysis and matched to flight paths during the Southern Ocean Clouds, Radiation, and Aerosol Transport Experimental Study (SOCRATES, 2018) and the Cloud System Evolution in the Trades (CSET, 2015) flight campaigns. Observational data used in comparisons can be downloaded from the National Center for Atmospheric Research's Earth Observing Laboratory at: https://www.eol.ucar.edu/field_projects/socrates and http://catalog.eol.ucar.edu/cset . To examine nudged simulations for the GV flight paths during SOCRATES, select instr_num==32. Simulations for the RV Investigator (instr_num==33) and at Macquarie Island (instr_num==34) are also included. For the SOCRATES GV flights, a separate file contains the Geopotential height above sea level (Z3).
