Summary:Symplectoscyphus plectilis (Hickson & Gravely, 1907) Sertularella plectilis Hickson & Gravely, 1907: 20, pl. 3, fig. 21; Ritchie, 1913: 10, 30, figs 8, 9, 11; Jäderholm, 1926: 5. Symplectoscyphus plectilis— Totton, 1930: 193 –194, fig. 41, pl. 2 figs 4, 5; Peña Cantero, 2010a: 40 (synonymy); 2012: 862; 2013: 134; 2014a: 1725, fig. 6g; Peña Cantero et al., 2013: 747–749, fig. 9e, f. Material examined. Stn 132, a few stems up to 25 mm high on tube of benthic organism (NIWA 117583). Ecology and distribution. Eurybathic species found at depths from 7 (Vervoort 1972b) to 1958 m (Peña Cantero 2012); present material at 162–172 m, epibiotic on tube of benthic organism. Circum-Antarctic distribution (Stepanjants 1979). Recently reported from the Bellingshausen Sea (Peña Cantero 2012) and off Low Island (Peña Cantero 2013), in West Antarctica, and off Queen Mary Coast (Peña Cantero 2014a), in East Antarctica. In the Ross Sea, already known from McMurdo (Hickson & Gravely 1907; Ritchie 1913; Totton 1930), off Cape Royds (Ritchie 1913), Discovery Inlet (Jäderholm 1926) and Tethys Bay (Peña Cantero et al. 2013).
