Description
Summary:Anthomyza tenuis (Loew, 1863) (Figs 203, 207–222) Anthophilina tenuis Loew, 1863: 324; OSTEN SACKEN (1878): 198 (catalogue). Anthomyza tenuis : CZERNY (1902): 250 (key), 252 (list); ALDRICH (1905): 645 (catalogue); WILLISTON (1908): 297 (illustr.: wing, head, fore leg); MELANDER (1913): 293 (key, distribution); SABROSKY (1965):819 (catalogue); COLE (1969): 436 (distribution); ROHÁĆEK (1998a): 173 (checklist). Type material. LECTOTYPE: ♂ (designated herewith): “Loew Coll.”, “422”, “tenuis m.” (Loew’s handwriting), “Type 13427” (red label), “ LECTOTYPUS ♂ Anthophilina tenuis Loew, J. Roháček & K. N. Barber des. 2013” (red) and “ Anthomyza tenuis (Loew) ♂, J. Roháček & K. N. Barber det. 2013”. The specimen is in good condition, with clearly visible, exposed genitalia (see Fig. 203) (MCZC, intact). According to the original description (LOEW 1863), it was collected by Sahlberg in Sitka (USA: Alaska). The lectotype is designated inasmuch as LOEW (1836) did not mention the number of specimens used for the description and owing to the necessity to nx the status of the species because of the existence of two closely allied Nearctic species hitherto confounded under the name A. tenuis .
