The species occurs on dry wood clearings, heathlands and bogs. Not rare. DISTRIBUTION. The Palaearctic except for southernmost areas, Greenland, North America (Sinev 1986; Karsholt & Razowski 1996; Leraut 2014; Aarvik et al. 2017; Koçak & Kemal 2018; Sinev et al. 2019; Slamka, 2019).
