Description
Summary:Megalanceoloides remipes (K.H. Barnard, 1932) Southwest Atlantic: 301871, 4/154, [54°43’S 64°28’W], 2105 m; 1089977, 6/448, [61°06’S 59°15’W], 2580 m; 1089983, 8/592, [55°15’S 25°37’W], 2562 m; 1090231, 9/670, [50°28’S 35°02’W], 1565 m. Southeast Pacific: 1090233, 10/778, [59°35’S 82°30’W], 1251–1691 m; 1090236, 10/832, [62°36’S 74°40’W], 1775–2723 m. Remarks: This species was previously known from only two specimens (Zeidler 2009), that of Gasca and Haddock (2016) later regarded a new species in Gasca and Browne (2017). The type locality is the south-west Atlantic (41°43’S 42°20’W), and Zeidler and De Broyer (2009) indicated that it might occur in the Southern Ocean. Thus, the above are new records for the Antarctic Zone of the Southwest Atlantic and Southeast Pacific Sectors. Another two specimens were collected by the Eltanin outside the Antarctic Zone of the Southeast Pacific Sector but within the limits of the Southern Ocean; 1090237, 10/852, [56°39’S 74°59’W], 3111 m; and 1090239, 10/877, [55°23’S 78°16’W], 1940 m. Published as part of Zeidler, Wolfgang, 2019, New and additional records of hyperiidean amphipods of the infraorder Physosomata (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Hyperiidea) from the Antarctic Zone of the Southern Ocean, pp. 510-520 in Zootaxa 4576 (3) on page 514, DOI:10.11646/zootaxa.4576.3.5, http://zenodo.org/record/3715770
