Description
Summary:Archaeoscina steenstrupi (Bovallius, 1885) Southwest Pacific: 1198702, 14/1270, [57°34’S 125°06’30”W], 851–933 m. Remarks: An uncommon species with a world-wide distribution, rarely recorded, probably because it is a relatively fragile species easily destroyed in plankton hauls, and prefers deeper waters (200–500 m). The only previous record from the Antarctic Zone is by Vinogradov (1962), also from the Southwest Pacific Sector (64°03’S 161°59’E). Published as part of Zeidler, Wolfgang, 2019, New and additional records of hyperiidean amphipods of the infraorder Physosomata (Crustacea: Amphipoda: Hyperiidea) from the Antarctic Zone of the Southern Ocean, pp. 510-520 in Zootaxa 4576 (3) on page 511, DOI:10.11646/zootaxa.4576.3.5, http://zenodo.org/record/3715770
