Material examined. Stn 8, stem 155 mm high (NIWA 117341); Stn 97, stem fragment 14 mm long (NIWA 29736); Stn 171, stem 240 mm high, with gonothecae (MNCN 2.03/673); Stn 178, stem 100 mm high, with gonothecae (NIWA 29735). Ecology and distribution. Shelf and slope species, collected at depths between 343 and 736 m (Peña Cantero 2007); present material from 343 and 630 m. Gonothecae in February (Peña Cantero 2007; present material). East Antarctic distribution (Peña Cantero 2007), only known from the Cape Adare region, in the Ross Sea (Peña Cantero 2007); present material off Cape Adare, Adare Peninsula and Possession Islands.
