Symplectoscyphus divaricatus – Blanco & Bellusci de Miralles 1972: 13 –16, figs 22–27. Ecology. Shelf species, found at depths from 8 (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972) to 380 m (Peña Cantero 2010). On a wide range of sea bottoms, including bottoms of mud, sand, pebbles, stones, boulders and different mixed bottoms (Jäderholm 1905; Ritchie 1913; Broch 1948; Naumov & Stepanjants 1972). Epibiotic on holothurians and ascidians and epilithic on pebbles and stones (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972; Peña Cantero 2010). Gonothecae: February (Peña Cantero 2010), May (Jäderholm 1905; Ritchie 1913) and August (Ritchie 1913). Distribution. Circum-Antarctic (Peña Cantero et al. 2002). West Antarctica : Cumberland Bay, in South Georgia (Jäderholm 1905), Peter I Island (Broch 1948; Blanco & Bellusci de Miralles 1972; Peña Cantero 2010), Low Island (Blanco 1984), Livingston Island, in the South Shetland Islands (Peña Cantero 2006; 2008) and Bransfield Island, Antarctic Peninsula (Peña Cantero & Vervoort 2009). East Antarctica : McMurdo Sound and Cape Royds, in the Ross Sea (Ritchie 1913) and Adélie Coast (Naumov & Stepanjants 1972).
