Description
Summary:Among the population, the need for the use of medicinal plants in the treatment and prevention of various acute and chronic diseases increases from year to year. This article reflects the results of the work on the primary introduction of popular medicinal types of mint in Central Yakutia. Such valuable species as M. x piperita L. – peppermint, M. spicata L. - garden mint (sprickly, curly), M. longifolia (L.) were attracted. Huds. - forest mint (long-leaved), M. pulegium L. - flea mint. Of these, some species showed quite good winter resistance Central Yakutia: M. spicata and M. longifolia persist for 5-6 years, did not freeze even in the cold winter of 2020-2021. Winter resistance is lower in peppermint, and especially in marsh mint, which freezes almost annually. A more stable rhythm of seasonal development was established in M. spicata , M. longifolia . Critical in terms of temperature conditions in all species is the period of germination - budding, in the further development of mint does not require high temperatures for development. Three species form germination seeds on the central shoots: M. pulegium and M. longifolia , M. x piperita . Vegetative reproduction occurs actively in three species: M. x piperita , M. spicata , M. longifolia . In mint cultivation, it should be taken into account that mint seeds grow only at a high temperature of 20-25ºC. In subsequent development of mint - plants of a long day and cool conditions. Preliminary results of the introduction work make it possible to offer these types of mint to the population for cultivation in personal subsidiary farms and dachas for landscaping and use for medicinal purposes.
