Conservation: CITES – Appendix II; IUCN – Lower Risk (lc), except for Mediterranian subpopulation, which is Endangered. Discussion: See Heyning and Perrin (1991, 1994). Rice (1998:112) recognized D. d. ponticus (Black Sea Common Dolphin).
