Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc). Discussion: Does not include occultus , see Piaggio et al. (2002). Hybridizes with yumanensis in some areas; see Parkinson (1979), but see Herd and Fenton (1983). See Fenton and Barclay (1980). Apparently closely related to thysanodes see Ruedi and Mayer (2001). Status of the type and type locality was discussed by Davis and Rippy (1968).
